Commission PA Turnpike Closed Westbound Between Carlisle and Breezewood.

Multi-vehicle accident forcing emergency closure.

A section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Carlisle Interchange (Exit #226) and the Breezewood Interchange (#161) is now closed westbound due to a multi-vehicle accident involving two tractor trailers and two passenger cars at milepost 175.6. No injuries are being reported.

The recommended detour for westbound motorists: Exit at Carlisle (#226) take Route 11 north to I-81 south (58 miles) to Maryland to I-70 west (I-81, Exit MD #4) (48 miles) to Route 30 east (.3 miles) and reenter at Breezewood Interchange (#161). It is estimated that the detour will add 30-45 minutes to the trip.

Alternate-route cards will be available to exiting travelers at the Carlisle interchange during the closure. Expect higher traffic volumes on detour roads during the closure.
