Drunk driver hits police cruiser, injuring both the driver and officer at Broad and Tioga streets in Philadelphia

A drunk driver ran into a police vehicle in North Philadelphia early Saturday morning, one of several car accidents that happened throughout the region as snow, sleet and freezing rain fell during the night. The officer sustained minor injuries in the accident that happened near Broad and Tioga streets at approximately 2:30 a.m. The police cruiser was controlling traffic at a construction site when the intoxicated man hit the car. Authorities apprehended the driver, while the officer was sent to Temple University Hospital for treatment. Names have not yet been released, come back to see new details as they become available.
