A 21-year-old driver was killed late Wednesday night in a crash on Route 22 in Murrysville.

A 21-year-old driver was killed late Wednesday night in a crash on Route 22 in Murrysville.

According to the Westmoreland County coroner, Brian Spoly was driving west when his car went off the road and hit a utility pole, landing on the driver's side, about 10:52 p.m.

Spoly, 21, of Loyalhanna Township, was pronounced dead at the scene just before midnight from injuries to his head, neck and chest. The coroner said he was not wearing a seat belt.

A passenger in the car was taken to Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. That person's condition was not released by the coroner.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
