Motorcycle driver seriously injured in East Providence accident; driver of second vehicle charged

Louis Alicea, 34, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in bodily injury, first offence and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or greater, first offence, said East Providence police Lt. David Pacheco Sunday morning.
 
 
An East Providence man, Louis Alicea, 34 was charged with drunken driving after crashing into a motorcycle at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Pawtucket Avenue Saturday night. Alicea was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or greater, the first offense according to East Providence police Lt. David Pacheco. Alicea was driving south on Veterans Memorial Parkway around 7:18 p.m. Saturday when he turned left onto Pawtucket Avenue and collided with the driver of a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was driving north on Pawtucket Avenue, according to Pacheco. The driver of the motorcycle was not identified. The motorcyclist suffered severe facial and cranial injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, and is now in stable condition. The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet. Alicea declined medical treatment at the scene, but was later taken to the hospital with an undisclosed, non-life threatening condition. Alicea is expected to be incriminated once he is released from the hospital.
