We’re told Grooms was riding toward Isle of Palms on the IOP Connector when a vehicle turned left from Riviera Drive. Police say the car drove into the Grooms’ path, and the motorcycle hit the car near the driver’s door.

Grooms said the maximum penalty for a felony DUI conviction, 25 years in prison, is not tough enough. He hopes that the laws in South Carolina will be changed soon.
