An on-duty officer was hospitalized after a crash on a Midlands road, the Sumter Police Department said Thursday.

The crash occurred before 8 p.m. Wednesday on the U.S. 76/378 Bypass, say authorities.
The unidentified officer was flown to a Columbia hospital where he is in stable condition this morning.
