According to officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Anderson was the passenger in a 2013 Toyota SUV driven by a 74-year-old man, also of Hobe Sound, Fla. The other vehicle was a 2003 Honda driven by an 18-year-old Cayce man.
Melissa Beth Anderson, 64 of Hobe Sound, FL was identified as the deceased passenger in a two-car crash westbound on I-26 near mile marker 60 in Laurens County, South Carolina. The two vehicles were said to have run off the right side of the road and struck nearby trees. The 74- year- old driver of Anderson's vehicle and the 19-year-old driver of the other vehicle were mechanically extracted from the crushed vehicles and taken to Greenville Hospital.
