73-year-old driver killed, passenger Joshua Parker, 23, injured, taken to hospital, after their vehicle leaves the S.C. 56 roadway near Clinton, crashes down an embankment, strikes a tree and overturns.

A driver was killed, and a passenger was injured in a Laurens County wreck Wednesday night.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, the incident at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday on SC 56, about one mile outside Clinton.

Troopers say a 2013 Dodge was traveling south on SC 56, when the driver went off the right side of the road, down an embankment, struck a tree and overturned.

The 73-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Joshua Parker,23, was a passenger in that vehicle and was transported to Self Regional for his injuries.
