Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in Darlington County Posted: Updated: DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A pedestrian was struck and killed on E. McIver Road (Secondary 179) in Darlington County around 7:40 p.m. Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee said the victim is 55-year-old William A. Newsome of Florence. Bob Beres said a 2004 Nissan and Newsome were both traveling west on E. McIver Road (Secondary 179), when Newsome, who was in the roadway, collided with the vehicle. The 62-year-old driver of the Nissan was wearing their seatbelt. Friday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
