Horry County crash results in fatality

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that took place on Jordanville Road Friday night at 11:10 p.m. The SCHP said a 2007 Chevy pick-up was traveling north on Gumtree Road and disregarded a stop sign, then collided with a 2007 Dodge Charger that was traveling east on Jordanville Road. The driver of the Chevy was ejected from the vehicle and both the driver and passenger were transported to Grand Strand Medical Center, according to SCHP. The driver of the Dodge is deceased and it is unknown if that driver was wearing a seat-belt because the vehicle caught fire, according to SCHP. The Horry County Coroner said the victims name will be released at a later time.

Overnight accident in Horry County leaves car in flames, one dead

One person is dead after a fatal accident in Horry County. They say the driver of the truck ran a stop sign and hit the Charger. According to authorities, the accident happened around 11 p.m. on Jordansville road near Gumtree street in Galivants Ferry. The Charger caught on fire and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say that a Chevy pick-up truck and a Dodge Charger were involved.

Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identified the deceased victim as 64-year-old Derrick James Sr. of the Galivants Ferry area. Fowler said the victim died at the scene from mass trauma and is ruled accidental.

Second person dies after Horry County crash

Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick announced on Monday that Patrick Lefebvre, 20, died from head injuries.
