Rebecca Lynn Dew, 29, killed in crash between pickup and church van on SC Highway 747 and SC 9 Bypass in Loris
NC mom dies, 5 people hurt after church van crashes near Loris
Dew leaves behind two young sons, according to her Facebook profile. Dew was a 2006 graduate Southeastern Community College and of Whiteville High School, her profile said.
On Tuesday afternoon, a Ford church van with three passengers was eastbound on SC 747 when a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck with three occupants was northbound on SC 9 Bypass. The van apparently went through a stop sign, at which point it was struck by the pickup. The church van flipped. Rebecca Lynn Dew of Whiteville, NorthCarolina, was a passenger in the van. Dew was not wearing her seatbelt and was killed in the crash. 5 other people involved were taken to Grand Strand Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Later, at 5:30 pm, a child who was a bystander was run over by a John Deere "Gator"-type off-road vehicle. An additional ambulance was dispatched to transport the child to a hospital.
After an injury car accident, take these steps to help the recovery process
When someone has been injured in a car crash, it's hard to know what to do to help. Injured people need appropriate medial treatment, but they also need to have their civil and legal rights protected.
After a serious crash, several steps need to be taken, including dealing with the insurance companies, tracking and documenting lost income from missed work, coordinating medical bill payments, and handling an insurance claim.
