Gerald Gargiola, 67, killed, one other person injured, taken to hospital, after their truck leaves the SC 917 roadway near Nichols, and overturns multiple times.

A Green Sea Floyds man died in a wreck on SC 917 at Shelly Lane in Nichols Wednesday morning.

Gerald Gargiola, 67, of Bertie Road in Green Sea was pronounced dead at the scene from internal injuries. Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said Gargiola had just finished passing a vehicle when his truck went off-road and he overcompensated, causing his vehicle to flip multiple times.

Edge said Gargiola was unresponsive when EMS arrived on scene. The passenger in the vehicle was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Edge did not know their condition.

Emergency officials responded to the scene at 7:43 a.m.
