One person was killed and several others injured in a two-car crash early Sunday that sent both vehicles careening down an embankment off Tenn. 385 near Kirby.
One of the cars was trying to merge onto the divided highway when it collided with another car going west about 12:40 a.m.
The collision sent both cars off the road. Driver Shawtisha Bonner, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 26-year-old woman was transported to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition and two men, 25 and 29, were transported in noncritical condition.
The other driver, 24-year-old Sean Armstrong, was arrested on charges of having no proof of insurance and driving on a suspended license, according to police.
He was released on $100 bond and is due in court Monday.
