Man killed in accident ran into several cars, police say.
The man killed in a 10-car accident in Raleigh Wednesday apparently ran into several cars that were stopped for a red light, police said Thursday.
Memphis police aren’t releasing the name of the 58-year-old Bartlett resident. Six others were injured in the crash, including one 4-year-old, later identified as Maxximus Sales in critical condition. The accident happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Covington Pike near Raleigh-LaGrange.
According to police, the man was driving a 2006 Ford Mustang as he approached the red light. He sideswiped three vehicles stopped for the light, then continued sliding southbound before striking another car. The severity of that impact pushed the Mustang forward, causing impacts between three more vehicles.
The Mustang continued sliding, hitting two more cars before coming to a stop. The man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
UPDATE: Maxximus Sales, 4, died of his injuries as a result of this accident. 04/21/14.
