SCSO spokesman Earle Farrell said a driver tried to beat the train and cross the train tracks while the crossing arms were down. That driver and the train crashed, and then the driver crashed into another car.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office said Jeffrey Pearson, 55, was impatient and tried to beat a train at the crossing between Fite Road and Raleigh-Millington Road. However, Pearson didn't beat the train. Instead, the train crashed into his vehicle.
