Solveig Janine Brammer killed when her car is struck by vehicle driven by Victoria Anne Shepherd when she reached for ringing cell phone.

Columbia police say a driver has been cited after a crash claimed the life of another driver Monday afternoon.

The crash was reported about 3 p.m. on Nashville Highway near the intersection with Imperial Drive.

Police said Victoria Anne Shepherd, 22, of Spring Hill, was driving northbound when her phone rang. She reached for her phone, the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and she collided with a car driven by 49-year-old Solveig Janine Brammer, also of Spring Hill.

Brammer's car rolled over, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and police said Shepherd has been cited for failing to exercise due care. More charges could follow.
