One person is dead after a head-on collision on FM 969, or Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard, near Nixon Lane.
One person is dead after a head-on collision on FM 969, or Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard, near Nixon Lane. Police say it happened just before 6 a.m. Wednesday when the driver of a Kia drove east in a westbound lane. A 33-year-old man driving the Kia crashed head on into a gray pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police do not yet know if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash. FM 969/MLK was shut down from Nixon Lane to Decker Lane, as Austin police vehicular homicide detectives investigated. It re-opened just after 9 a.m.
