Pilot killed in Travis County plane crash

The Austin American-Statesman reports that the plane crashed Saturday and ignited a brush fire that scorched 7 acres in northwest Travis County before firefighters extinguished it.
The plane was an American Champion 7-GCBC, a fixed-gear plane built in 2001 that was issued a new flight certificate in January. Board spokesman Keith Holloway told the newspaper the investigator should have a preliminary report within five to 10 days, though a complete report takes between 12 and 18 months.
