Woman filling car with gas struck, killed by pickup near Terrell

A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle while filling her car up with gas on the side of Highway 80 near Terrell. She was putting gas in her car when she was fatally struck by a Ford F-150. Texas DPS officials told News 8 the woman’s car had stalled about a mile east of Spur 557 around 4 p.m. The woman had not been identified pending notification of next of kin. The man driving the pickup truck stopped, according to the DPS. No charges are expected to be filed.

TERRELL (CBSDFW.COM) — Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating an accident near Terrell that left a woman dead, officials say. The pickup truck driver, who was driving from Terrell, stopped at the scene. It happened on Highway 80 near Spur 557 around 4 p.m. Bradford said DPS is trying to determine whether the woman stepped into the traffic lane.

Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Kyle Bradford confirms one person, later identified as 63-year-old Melinda Dardon of Terrell, Texas, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
