Peter Hacking, 36, Ellie Bryant, 4, and Grayson Hacking, 22 months, killed in 2-vehicle crash on State Highways 205 and 78 in Wylie, Texas

LAVON (CBSDFW.COM) -DPS Troopers are on the scene of a deadly crash just south of Lavon near Rettop Street at State Highways 205 and 78. DPS says three people were killed in the two-vehicle crash.

DPS says a van swerved into the northbound lane striking a gray sedan with Hacking and his children inside.

A Nevada volunteer firefighter and two children died Thursday in a crash that shut down State Highway 78 in Wylie, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Troopers responded about 2:15 p.m. to the crash on Highway 78 near State Highway 205, just south of Lavon Lake, DPS spokesman Sgt. Lonny Haschel said.

A van traveling south on Highway 78 swerved into the northbound lane, striking a car. It was not clear what caused the van to swerve, Haschel said.

Margarito Quintero was booked into the Collin County jail Monday. He has been charged with criminally negligent homicide and is being held on an immigration detainer, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Lonny Haschel said.

Quintero-Rosales told troopers he had worked for 17 hours the day before the crash, and four more hours the day of the crash, doing roofing work on nearby homes.

As a result of the investigation into the crash, the driver was arrested for criminally negligent homicide earlier in the week. However, after petitioning by Rep. John Ratcliffe and Senator John Cornyn a federal immigration detainer was placed on Quintero.
