Motorcyclist killed after collision with tractor-trailer in dense fog in Liberty County, Texas

Dense fog could be to blame in a fatal motorcycle crash on Monday in west Liberty County, officials said. The crash occurred about 7 a.m. on FM 1960 at CR 611 near Dayton, according to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said preliminary information indicates an 18-wheeler was turning off CR 611 onto FM 1960 when the motorcyclist, who was traveling west on 1960, collided with the center of the truck's trailer. Deputies said fog was heavy in the area at the time of the crash, reducing visibility to less than about 100 feet. The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. The 18-wheeler's driver was not injured.
