Accident kills woman & dog, injures 5 on Highway 290

Deputies said woman and dog survived one accident but died in a second.

Around midnight, Krystal Singletary was driving inbound on 290 with her dog in the car when she lost control and hit a wall causing the car to roll.

She survived the crash and got out of the car because it was stuck on its side in the middle of the freeway.

At the same time a family driving on 290 didn't see the woman in the middle of the road and hit her, pinning her and the dog in between the two cars.

"The female that was trapped in between was drug several feet before it came to rest and she was later pronounced deceased due to the injuries she sustained from the crash," said the Harris County sheriff’s office.

Her dog also died at the scene. The five people in the second car were all taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Of the five people in the second car, two of them were children, but they were not seriously hurt.
