4 people injured, taken to hospital, after their vehicle is struck by a Metro Rail transit train at a crossing, where the warning gates were down, near NRG park in Houston.

There was a brief delay in rail service after a Metro Rail train slammed into a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near NRG Park, formerly known as Reliant Park.

The crash caused no fatalities.

The train was headed southbound on Fannin about 4 p.m. and the crossing arms were down when the collision happened.

"The driver of the vehicle was on Naomi and went around the gate and so the train hit the vehicle," Metro spokeswoman Carolina Mendoza said.

Four individuals in the vehicle were transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.

Their conditions were not initially life-threatening, Mendoza said.

The rail line has reopened.
