Police are investigating if a medical emergency caused an elderly woman to crash her vehicle in southeast Houston.

It happened around 9 p.m. Friday in the 10000 block of Almeda Genoa.

Houston police say a 79-year-old woman was driving on Almeda Genoa when she lost control and crashed into a traffic light pole.

Officials say the woman was transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital where she died.

The woman was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Police believe a medical emergency caused the woman to crash.

The woman's name was not immediately released.
