HPD: Woman killed by alleged drunk driver on I-45

According to Houston police spokesman John Cannon, Puga was the driver of a black Saab headed north on I-45 when she swerved into another traffic lane that was headed the same direction about 5:10 a.m. Sunday.

Northbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway near the Hobby Airport exit were closed for six hours Sunday morning as investigators untangled a two-car wreck that ended with the death of one driver and the arrest of the other on charges of intoxicated manslaughter, Houston police said.

Blisha Marie Puga, 35, remained in the Houston jail Sunday afternoon on the intoxicated manslaughter charges. No bond had yet been set, jail officials said.

According to Houston police spokesman John Cannon, Puga was the driver of a black Saab headed north on I-45 when she swerved into another traffic lane that was headed the same direction about 5:10 a.m. Sunday.

Her car then crushed the right side of a Ford Taurus driven by a 49-year-old female, whose name was not released. Cannon said the driver of the Taurus died at the scene, and her body transported to the Harris County morgue for an autopsy.
