Investigators determined the driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident.
A 58-year-old man was driving a blue Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV northbound on the Eastex Freeway service road at about 4:30 p.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a freeway light pole. He was not wearing a seat belt, and died in the accident. No further information was released.
