Two killed in high-speed crash on FM 1960.

A man and woman died when they were thrown from a car in a traffic crash early Sunday morning in northeast Harris County.

A man and woman died when they were thrown from a car in a traffic crash early Sunday morning in northeast Harris County.

James Edrith Hales and Jessekah Lynn Few were killed in the single-car wreck about 5:45 a.m. in the 4400 block of FM 1960 East in the Humble area, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Hales was driving a maroon 2013 Ford Fusion westbound when he failed to maintain a single lane, crossed the center stripe, plowed into a ditch and hit a concrete culvert. The car went airborne. It flipped over when it hit the ground, coming to rest in a grassy area.

Deputies said Hales and Few, who was the front-seat passenger, were thrown from the car. They died at the scene. They were not wearing seat belts, deputies added.

A witness told investigators the car was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Deputies were investigating the crash.
