Meri Sias, Acting Chief Ranger at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, confirmed that the 33-year-old woman apparently drowned Tuesday while holding the 2-year-old boy above the waves. Both the child and the mother were pulled into a "runabout" boat launched from the houseboat.
