Police looking for driver after hydrant crash floods Millcreek home

Police are looking for a man who took off after crashing into a Millcreek fire hydrant, which caused one basement to flood. Meanwhile, the sheared hydrant spewed thousands of gallons of water, and at least two inches of water flooded a homeowner's basement downstream. Sunday, people on the 600 East block of Malibu Drive (4235 South) heard a crash, said Unified Police Detective Jared Richardson. When they came outside, they saw a man had crashed a white Acura into a fire hydrant, and helped him free the car from the wrecked hydrant. But as soon as the Acura became unstuck, the man drove away, Richardson said.
