Ogden man arrested after hit-and-run puts two motorcyclists in hospitals.
A Tuesday hit-and-run in Ogden put two men in the hospital and one under arrest.
Around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 2004 Lincoln Ls traveling northbound on Walnut Street crossed Riley Avenue and collided with two motorcycles that were traveling westbound on Riley Avenue. The driver of the Lincoln left the scene of the wreck.
A news release from the Riley County Police Department said the operators of the motorcycles, James Garrett III, 48, and Steven Cannon Jr., 29, both of Ogden, were taken to Kansas hospitals. A Life Star of Kansas helicopter transported Garrett to Via Christi Hospital in Wichita. Garrett’s condition is unknown. A Riley County Emergency Medical Service unit transported Cannon to Mercy Regional Hospital in Manhattan, and his condition is also unknown.
Riley County police officers identified Johnny Cossey as the operator of the Lincoln. He was located at 321 N. Park St. in Ogden shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday. He was placed under arrest in connection with leaving the scene of an injury accident. The news release says Cossey is being held at the Riley County Jail on a $7,000 bond.
