Man killed after being struck by car at intersection.

A Friday morning auto-pedestrian accident in West Valley City claimed the life of a 39-year-old man.

The accident occurred about 6:45 a.m. at 2700 West and 4270 South as the victim, who worked at an area grocery store, was crossing east to west.

A southbound compact car, believed to be traveling at 40 mph, struck the victim just as he stepped into traffic, said a WVCPD Lt.

Witnesses, police officers and then paramedics attempted CPR, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head and chest trauma, Taylor said.

The accident remained under investigation. No citations were immediately issued.

The victim’s identity was being withheld pending notification of his family.
