Police identify man killed in crash with car, UTA bus

A car traveling west on 4100 S. collided with a car headed northbound on 2200 W. around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday. Both cars then spun into a UTA bus.

Burton was in extremely critical condition at the scene and was taken to the hospital where he later died. The red car was being driven by an 18-year-old woman. An 18-year-old man and three juveniles were passengers in the car, Elson said.

Teen ran red light, triggered fatal crash with bus

Police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said investigators found that the 18-year-old female behind the wheel of a Geo Prism failed to stop for the signal at 4100 S. 2200 West when it turned red about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday. The southbound Prism then collided with a northbound car on 2200 West, and both vehicles then careened into the rear of a Utah Transit Authority bus, which was southbound on 2200 West.
Police have identified the man killed after two cars crashed with a bus in West Valley as Davey Lee Burton, 84, of Taylorsville. Burton was a passenger in the first car that was hit. Everyone in the other car sustained only minor injuries. No one on the bus was hurt.
