Michael E. Reynolds, 68, killed in crash with tractor-trailer on Route 460 in Tazewell County, Virginia
Victim identified in fatal Tazewell County crash
A tractor-trailer had just made a legal U-turn on Route 460 and pulled off onto the right shoulder to complete the turn. As it began to merge into the eastbound travel lanes, it pulled out in front of an eastbound 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to Corinne N. Geller, public relations director for the Virginia State Police. The Jeep was unable to avoid the logging truck and rear-ended it.
Why every fatality from a crash is not legally a wrongful death
After someone dies in a motor-vehicle accident, grieving family members and friends are often left with many questions. What caused the accident? Could it have been avoided? What do they do now that their loved one is gone?
Sometimes a fatal collision happens through no one's fault. Crashes caused by weather and road conditions, or by wildlife in the roadway, are examples. But when a fatal crash is caused by negligence, then family members should pursue a wrongful death claim, to uphold the victim's rights and begin the financial recovery process.
