1 dead, 1 injured in Route 58 crash in Suffolk

One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Suffolk, Wednesday afternoon. Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue were called the scene in the 1900 block of eastbound Portsmouth Boulevard/Route 58, around 4:40 p.m. Authorities say the two vehicles crashed near the SPSA Regional Landfill. One person was confirmed dead on scene. Another person was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment. The extent of injuries are unknown.

Suffolk police investigate cause of fatal crash

Authorities confirmed the driver of the minivan, 30-year-old Tameka R. Carter, died at the scene, while the driver of the SUV was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
