Va. Beach resident killed, another injured in Greensville crash.
Two Virginia Beach residents were critically injured during a vehicle crash in Greensville County Thursday morning, and one has passed away.
Around 10:30 a.m., Troopers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Route 58, east of Route 606 (Grassy Pond Road), according to a spokesperson with the Virginia State Police.
An investigation indicated a 2004 Ford Explorer was traveling west when the driver lost control and the vehicle traveled off the road and struck a tree. Both the driver and passenger were airlifted to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond with life-threatening injuries.
The medical center told state police the passenger, 62-year-old Teresa Harmon Ingerson of Virginia Beach, died from complications of her injuries. The driver, 73-year-old William Thomas Patton of Virginia Beach, remains in critical condition.
Anaya said both occupants were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a contributing factor to the crash. However, the cause of the crash is still unknown.
