Fiery Rocky Mount crash kills three

Three people died after their vehicle crashed into a building and burst into flames in downtown Rocky Mount early Friday morning.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, but said the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. when a 2001 Lincoln LS crashed into a building at the intersection of South Grace and Chester streets.

The pastor of Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount preached to his congregation Sunday, just 48 hours after his son and two others were killed in a fiery car crash.
Three people died in a one-car wreck early Friday in downtown Rocky Mount, police said. The incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. when a 2001 Lincoln LS crashed into a building at the intersection of South Grace and Chester streets. “The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The Rocky Mount Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire,” Cpl. Mike Lewis said in a press release. “Investigators at the scene recovered the remains of three persons who were inside the vehicle.” The cause of the wreck is under investigation by the Rocky Mount police traffic safety unit.
