The accident happened around 3:40 p.m. on Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) and Glen Carlyn Drive.

Police said Arias was trying to cross the pike – from south to north and outside of a crosswalk – around 3:40 p.m. At the same time, the driver of a 2012 Jeep Wrangler was making a left turn onto eastbound Leesburg Pike from Glen Carlyn Road, according to a department press release.
