Sgt. B.W. Breeden of the Virginia State Police said Christopher Davis-Bunt, 20, was traveling on North Valley Pike about 11:30 p.m. when he lost control of a 1995 Honda Civic. Police say the vehicle ran off the road to the left, then swerved to the right and struck a tree about a half-mile north of Craney Island Road, near the Shenandoah County line.
Driver Indicted in Fatal Crash
The grand jury indicted Christopher Davis-Bunt, 20, on four charges, including felony involuntary manslaughter and misdemeanor DWI.
The car's passenger, Courtney Ahles, 18, of Harrisonburg, died at the scene. Davis-Bunt was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Police said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
