The patrol said the SUV’s driver will be charged with driving too fast for conditions.

Seven people from Yakima were sent to hospitals after a sport utility vehicle crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 97 and crashed into a car 16 miles north of Goldendale Friday night. Six of the injured were in the SUV, a GMC Yukon, which was driving south when the accident occured at about 8 p.m. The Washington State Patrol identified them in a press release as Laura Chavez, 35, Nancy N. Cervantes, 21, and Estevan M. Tapia, 13, all of whom were taken to Klickitat Valley Health Hospital in Goldendale; and Balia Chavez, 28, Henry Chavez, 26, and Kamila B. Hernandez, 4, all of whom were taken to Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center in Yakima. The press release listed both Laura Chavez and Henry Chavez as the driver. The driver of the northbound car, a Honda Civic, was Katrina M. Johnson, 46. She was taken to Yakima Regional.
