Man accused in hit-and-run asked wife to report SUV as stolen, attorney says.
A Yacolt man accused of crashing into a pedestrian and then fleeing the scene early Thursday morning allegedly called his wife to ask that she report his vehicle as stolen.

Vancouver police continue to investigate the scene of a hit-and-run crash that left a man seriously injured and blocked traffic in some directions at Fourth Plain Boulevard at Northeast Andresen Road.
A pedestrian, identified as Cody T. Robinson, 20, of Vancouver, was struck in the intersection about 5:30 a.m. this morning at Fourth Plain Boulevard at Northeast Andresen Road. Robinson was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition. A white Chevrolet SUV apparently involved in the crash was found abandoned at a McDonald's parking lot just south of the intersection. Investigators have contacted the Chevy's registered owner, who reported the vehicle stolen shortly after the hit-and-run accident happened. On the chance the driver, later identified as James D. Schellhas, 28, ran from the scene, responding officers used a police tracking dog and searched the area, but no suspect has been located.
