Woodland, Wash., man, 28, killed in New Year's Eve crash.

A 28-year-old Woodland, Wash., man died New Year's Eve when the car he was driving failed to make a turn, traveled down a bank and crashed. Christopher J. Beacock died at the scene.

A 28-year-old Woodland, Wash., man died New Year's Eve when the car he was driving failed to make a turn, traveled down a bank and crashed. Christopher J. Beacock died at the scene. Two passengers, Matthew S. Hance, 25, of Battleground, Wash., and Nicholas L. Ackerill, 33, of Ridgefield, Wash., were transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center. Their condition was unknown. Beacock was test-driving the car, a 2003 Ford Mustang owned by Hance. Witnesses told police the car was speeding at the time of the crash, about 10:40 p.m. Rescue teams had difficulty reaching the vehicle due to the steep terrain. Investigators are awaiting results of toxicology tests to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
