Bicyclist critically injured in collision with pickup in Kirkland

KIRKLAND, Wash. - A bicyclist was critically injured Monday morning in a collision with a pickup truck at a Kirkland intersection, police said. A preliminary investigation found that the bicyclist was headed west on 20th Avenue toward Market Street as the pickup truck was attempting a left-hard turn from southbound Market Street to 20th Avenue. Officers and medics responded to the scene, at 20th Avenue and Market Street, at about 6:25 a.m. after receiving a report of a serious accident involving a bicycle, said Sgt. The two collided at the intersection, Saloum said. The bicyclist, a Kirkland woman, was found with severe injuries.
