Five People Injured in Two Car Accident on SR 397 near Kennewick Saturday

The Washington State Patrol say five people were injured in a two car accident Saturday evening on SR 397 near Yew St. Just south of Kennewick.

Roberts was driving a van northbound on SR 397 when the van crossed the center line into the southbound lane. An oncoming pickup in the southbound lane swerved into the northbound lane to avoid the van, but then the driver of the van corrected back into the northbound lane and they collided. Efren Birrueta Mendoza along with passengers Luis Birrueta Guerrero and Diego Birrueta were injured and transported to a local hospital. Benjamin Rowell, a passenger in Robert's van, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and is listed in serious condition. Everyone involved was wearing seatbelts.
