Good Samaritan dies after accident on U.S. Highway 12
A Naches man described by police as a Good Samaritan died Monday, three days after he was struck while helping the driver of a disabled vehicle on U.S. Highway 12.
A 42-year-old Naches good Samaritan helping push a disabled SUV was hit by a vehicle Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 12 east of Naches. Ronald S. Brooker was first transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, but was later airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday afternoon. Brooker was pushing a disabled 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe near Locust Lane when the collision happened about 3:50 p.m. He and the SUV he was pushing were hit by a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Samantha L. Owens, 26, of Tieton. Owens was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released later that day.
