Marciela M. Servantes, 27, Pamela M. Miller, 53, Veronica C. Wallulatum, 55, and Lowell P. Miller, 49, killed in head-on crash on SR 22 near Toppenish, Washington
It was a tragic weekend on the roads of the Yakima Valley
That morning, shortly after 5 a.m., four people — three of them members of the same family — were killed in a head-on collision near Toppenish on State Route 22. The road was closed for roughly five hours. Three died at the scene while the fourth died about two hours later at a Yakima hospital. Two people were not wearing seat belts. Marciela M. Servantes, 27, of Sunnyside was driving a 1996 Chevrolet pickup east on 22 about a mile east of Toppenish near Larue Road when she crossed the center line and struck a 2005 Scion XB driven by 53-year-old Pamela M. Miller of White Swan. Servantes, who was not buckled up, later died at Yakima Regional Cardiac and Medical Center while Miller and her two passengers, her sister Veronica C. Wallulatum, 55, of White Swan, and brother Lowell P. Miller, 49, of Selah, were all pronounced dead at the scene.
After an injury car accident, take these steps to help the recovery process
When someone has been injured in a car crash, it's hard to know what to do to help. Injured people need appropriate medial treatment, but they also need to have their civil and legal rights protected.
After a serious crash, several steps need to be taken, including dealing with the insurance companies, tracking and documenting lost income from missed work, coordinating medical bill payments, and handling an insurance claim.
