Early morning accident claims 2 lives in Boone County, WV; names released

They were traveling southbound and ran off the roadway on the right side, before losing control and rolled several times.

According to a news release issued by Chief Deputy Chad Barker with the Boone County Sheriff's Office, the two men killed in a vehicle accident Saturday morning have been identified as Eddie Javins, of Big Ugly, and Curtis Kelly, of Greenview. Both Javins and Kelly were in their 30s.

The news release says the accident occurred after 4 a.m. just outside of the Madison city limits on WV Route 17.

They were traveling southbound and ran off the roadway on the right side, before losing control and rolled several times.

The accident remains under investigation, however, the news release says speed is believed to be a factor.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident along Route 17 in Madison, WV at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16.

According to Boone County emergency dispatchers, two men were ejected from a vehicle. One victim died at the scene of the accident. The second man died on the way to a hospital.

The victims' names have not yet been released to the media, nor the cause of the accident.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
