Truck Driver Charged With Negligent Homicide After Upshur County Fatal Collision

The driver of a tractor trailer is being charged with negligent homicide after a fatal collision on Route 33 in Upshur County Wednesday afternoon. The Upshur County Sheriff's Office investigated the collision and were assisted on scene by the West Virginia State Police, the West Virginia Public Service Commission, the West Virginia Division of Highways, the Buckhannon Fire Department, the Ellamore Fire Department and Upshur County EMS. The driver of the tractor trailer, Fred Berrouet, 34, of Georgia, was arraigned in Upshur County court with his bond set at $50,000. According to the Upshur County Sheriff's Office, the truck driver was attempting to back out of Harman Road and turn around, which left the trailer blocking both westbound traffic lanes. Robert Hart, Sr., 71, of Beverly, was travelling west in a Chevy Silverado and was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the truck.
