Leander R. Vethanayagamony, 24, killed, Sally A. Brownell, 60, injured in two-car crash on Highway 18 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin

A 24-year-old Illinois man was killed Monday in a two-vehicle crash in Iowa County. Leander R. Vethanayagamony, of Bolingbrook, Ill., was traveling east on Highway 18 about 11:30 a.m. when he was hit by a Dodge Grand Caravan, according to the Iowa County Sheriff's Office. The van was driven by Sally A. Brownell, 60, of Linden, who was traveling west on Highway 18 when she went off the right shoulder. She overcorrected, losing control of her vehicle and spinning into the eastbound lane, where she hit the oncoming car, a new release stated. Vethanayagamony died at the crash scene. Brownell was taken to a hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
