Eight people from the Chevrolet Venture were taken to Mercy Hospital in Janesville for various injuries. One occupant, a 31-year-old man, was dead upon EMS arrival. A 19-year-old man and 32-year-old woman face life threatening injuries. Five children were taken to the hospital, including a 1-month-old boy, a 1-year-old girl, a 5-year-old girl, a 9-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl.

Fatal car accident on I-39 near Edgerton

Authorities say a 2003 Chevrolet Venture van was traveling Southbound when the driver lost control. The van entered the median making contact with the guard wire. The vehicle then exited the median coming to a rest across the right lane facing west with no lights on. A southbound Dodge Sprinter van traveling near highway speeds did not see the now disabled vehicle in the right lane and hit the passenger side of the vehicle.
