Blinding snow is suspected of contributing to a multi-vehicle crash on southbound State Highway 151 in Dane County Thursday morning that injured two people, the sheriff's office said.

The crash involved three separate, simultaneous collisions, according to a report.

The crashes, reported shortly before 11 a.m., involved a chain-reaction collision that sent three cars into a ditch, the station reported. In addition, a semitrailer truck jackknifed and went into a ditch when its driver attempted to avoid the first crash, and two vehicles struck two other vehicles that were parked on the side of the road.

Two people suffered minor injuries in the crashes, which occurred just south of County Highway V. Motorists reported whiteout conditions at the time, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office encouraged motorists to watch their speeds and increase following distances.
